JICEY'S LAMINATED
PEELABLE SHIMS
consist of a stack of basic leaves joined together by gluing, over their whole surface, forming a laminated assembly of compact appearance. The basic leaves are peeled away one at a time until the exact thickness desired is obtained. This process considerably reduces assembly time and avoids the storage,
machining and grinding of solid shims. They are available in steel, aluminium, brass, stainless steel, titanium and composite materials to suit any application.

The peelable shim is Jicey’s leading product. Very few companies in the world have mastered the know-how and Jicey is acknowledged as the standard in this field.

BI-COMPOSED
PEELABLE SHIMS  
consist of basic leaves of different thickness accessible on one side or the other and marked by colouring (an exclusive Jicey process). We call this dual composition. The adjustment is therefore approached by commencing by peeling off the thickest basic leaves, then the precise adjustment is obtained by peeling off the thinnest basic leaves. This process is extremely economical since, firstly, it reduces assembly time and, secondly, it reduces purchase costs by the use of the maximum number of thick basic leaves.

Example of dual composition:
a shim of total thickness 1 mm consisting of 8 leaves of 0.1 mm and 4 leaves of 0.05 mm. The exclusive colouring of the metal immediately identifies 0.05 mm leaves in yellow and 0.1 mm leaves in blue

ALKOMPOSIT K ™ KAPTON
HIGHLY RESISTANT COMPOSIT LAMINATED PEELABLE SHIMS
Alkomposit Kapton laminated peelable shims are highly resistant composit adjustment shims. They consist of a stack of basic polyimide (Kapton) leaves, joined together by gluing over the whole surface, thereby forming a laminated set of compact appearance. Each basic leaf constituting the stack can be peeled off extremely easily, in complete safety and by hand, until the exact thickness desired is obtained. The shim is therefore perfectly and easily adjusted to compensate accurately for the play in a mechanical assembly.

They can satisfy all types of new applications where it is important to introduce concepts of insulation and lightness (50% of that of aluminium) over a wide range of temperatures (from - 70°C to + 400 °C). Alkomposit shims can be used advantageously to replace machined or ground solid metal shims..
