ALTHERMILL™ METAL LAMINATED PEELABLE SHIMS
Althermill laminated peelable shims are shims for high accuracy
adjustment. Consisting of a stack of basic metal leaves joined
together by gluing over their whole surface, they form a laminated
assembly of compact appearance consisting of a number of metal
leaves. Each basic leaf may be peeled off very easily, until the exact
thickness desired is obtained. The shim is therefore perfectly and
easily adjusted in thickness to compensate accurately for play
resulting from machining tolerances of any mechanical assembly.
This ingenious process avoids the machining and grinding of solid
shims while offering comparable or even greater accuracy. It also
replaces stacks of foil thereby avoiding the problems of this type of
shimming. In addition to the assembly time saved, the ease of use
and reduction in costs, peelable shims enable stocks to be reduced
by avoiding keeping solid shims in many thicknesses.
Made perfectly to measure, to your drawing, dimensions and
specifications, Jicey peelable shims are available in a wide range of
materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass and titanium) to
meet all your requirements.
If compression forces are low, aluminium is the most economical material. If
compression forces are average or high, mild steel is a better choice. If there
is a risk of corrosion, brass or stainless steel is preferable.

ALKOMPOSIT VIEWTEK ™
PEELABLE COMPOSIT SHIMS
Alkomposit laminated peelable shims are shims for adjustment
made from a composite material. They consist of a stack of basic
polyester (Mylar) leaves, joined
together by gluing over the whole surface, thereby
forming a laminated set of compact appearance.
Each basic leaf constituting the stack can be
peeled off extremely easily, in complete safety
and by hand, until the exact thickness desired
is obtained. The shim is therefore perfectly and
easily adjusted to compensate accurately for
the play in a mechanical assembly. They can
satisfy all types of new applications where it is important to
introduce concepts of insulation and lightness over a wide range of
temperatures. Alkomposit shims can be
used advantageously to replace machined or ground solid metal
shims.
With dual composition, the thickness is obtained commencing by peeling off the thickest basic leaves, then the fine adjustment is obtained by peeling off the thinnest basic leaves. To optimise the use of dual composition peelable shims, Jicey has developed the Viewtek process. This exclusive and patented process relies on marking the thickness of the basic leaves, written in full, on the central part of the shim. Therefore, because Mylar leaves are transparent, you can see and identify the thickness of the individual leaves you are removing at any time. A colour code makes identification of the various thicknesses (0,025 - 0,05 - 0,1mm) even easier.

ALKOMPOSIT K ™ LAMINATED PEELABLE KAPTON SHIMS
Les cales pelables Alkomposit existent en
polyimide (Alkomposit K pour Kapton). Alkomposit K peelable shims are available in polyimide (K stands for Kapton). Alkomposit
shims have physical, chemical and electrical properties (opposite) that are
extremely advantageous for all applications in which there are essential
requirements for electrical insulation, excellent resistance to chemical agents,
high resistance to temperature (from - 70°C to + 400°C), low density (50% of that of aluminium) and
also good safety in use. In addition, the use of Alkomposit shims prevents
problems of contact corrosion.
Alkomposit peelable shims can be produced in any geometrical shape, by
cutting out or machining, to your dimensions and specifications. If the
dimensions are large, it is possible to produce shims in several parts,
mechanically connected or otherwise. Peelable U shims are also available in
standard dimensions. |

SHIMPACK ™ SEPARABLE PEELABLE SHIMS
Shimpack separable shims are adjustment shims consisting of a
stack of basic leaves joined together by points
of adhesive on the edge. They have the
advantage that they can be peeled off very
easily by hand, without tools, until the
desired thickness is obtained. The
applications are mainly shimming of
mechanical components that only require
medium shimming accuracy.
The use of
Shimpack separable shims is especially
appropriate in challenging climatic and
environmental conditions (public works, heavy
engineering, agricultural machinery, etc.). Another advantage is that
any basic leaf removed can be reused as an individual shimming
item for another adjustment, making it a particularly economical
process.
Shimpack separable shims are available in steel, stainless steel or
brass and can be made to measure, in any shape to your
dimensions and specifications.
Shimpack separable shims may consist of basic leaves of the same
thickness, possibly with a solid portion. They may
also consist of basic leaves of different thickness accessible on one
side or the other. In this case, a solid portion may also be added. |

SOLID SHIMS AND FOILS
Strictly made to measure, solid shims, whether ground or otherwise, consist of a
close-grained material of predetermined thickness. They are used
in all cases in which there are significant stresses (vibration,
tension, shear forces, etc.). They are of very high accuracy since
they are strictly made to measure and for immediate use on site.
They are therefore found in some aeronautical mechanical
assemblies such as mountings for equipments mounted on civil and
military aircraft engines.
Solid shims are available in a very wide range of dimensions,
thicknesses, hardnesses and materials:
- Carbon steels from foils or sheets of 1000 x 1000 or 1500 x 2500
mm (DC03 / DC04 steel with average mechanical resistance, XC75
steel, tempered or not, with strong
- mechanical resistance)
- Stainless steels from foils or sheets of 1000 x 1000 or 1500 x 2500
mm (AISI 304 / 306 / 321 stainless steel)
- Special aeronautical steels from sheets of 1000 x 2000, 5/10ths to
3 mm thick (X17U4 / 15CDV6 steel)
- Aluminium (1050 - 2024)
- Brass (UZ10 / 30 / 33)
- Bronze (UBE2)
- Titanium
- PVC, ABS, Polyester, Kapton, Mylar

EXTRA-THIN SOLID SHIMS
Individual extra-thin shims are solid shims used to compensate
for play that is often less than 1/100th of a millimetre. Made to
drawing, in steel, aluminium, stainless steel or polymer, they are
produced in thicknesses of 0.025, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.20 mm and even
down to 0.01 mm for stainless steel.
Whatever the shape, they are
machined and not cut out. Jicey therefore guarantees a high
precision part without burrs for very thin shimming. |

PEELPACK ™ LAMIPACK ™ SINGLEPACK ™
STANDARD U-SHAPE ADJUSTMENT SHIMS
Standard U-shape shims are very often used for the alignment of
transmission shafts between an engine and a load. They are
available in steel, stainless steel and brass, but also in composite
material on request.
